Meal Ticketing Vouchers and Dining Cards

 

Israel Airport Authority Program
Aurora Technologies, along with IBM Israel and Comtec (Israel), developed a meal ticketing / dining card for the use of the employees at the Israeli Airport Authority (IAA).  The Dining Card replaces the paper coupons used by IAA employees for eating at the numerous restaurants, diners and cafeterias under contract with the IAA.

Each employee in the Airport Authority is issued a personal dining card for monthly use. Dining cards are also issued to external personnel and contractors.  Once issued, the cards are recharged each month with the dining privileges of the employee.

The food card system eliminated many of the common problems that were prevalent in the IAA: fraud, counterfeiting, misuse and mismanagement of paper food coupons.
 

 

The system includes:
 - Issuing stations for personalization of the smart cards.
 - Card Recharging Stations.
 - Terminals located at the restaurant checkout counters.
 - A central database and management system.

Originally the terminals used were Financers, manufactured by Thyron, UK.  The system has recently been updated to operate on Lipman terminals.

Additional Programs
Addtional programs for smart and magnetic card replacement of food vouchers have been implemented by Aurora.  These programs encompassed a wide assortment of system configurations, including use of smart cards or magnetic cards, realtime terminal communications to the center or offline transactions carried out by the terminal.
