Vending Machine Cards |
Aurora
Technologies took part in a program that
consisted of an electronic purse system
for use in public or private institutions
for purchasing food and beverages from
automatic vending machines. The system
allows the use of a local pre-paid smart
card instead of small change. The program was
developed by a consortium of companies,
including Aurora, Racom (Israel) -
a smart card supplier- and Mashkar, a
subsidiary of Coca-Cola Israel and a
manufacturer and supplier of vending
machines for food and beverages,
The first
system was tested at a closed site. Cards
were given to employees for use with
beverage machines that were already
installed at the site.

Aurora Technologies defined
the system, the card structure and its
security. We also designed and built the
vending machines controllers. These
controllers debited the cards and
controlled the beverage provision.
The POS (Point of Sale) terminal software
was also written by Aurora. The POS
software allowed to initialize cards and
recharge them with credit.
